About

A free, independent place for practical help

Why I built Latter-day Budget, and what you can expect here.

Hi, I’m Dustin. I created Latter-day Budget because I believe good money habits can bring real peace to families, and that the principles taught in the Church’s self-reliance courses deserve more practical, everyday examples.

When I studied the Personal Finances for Self-Reliance materials, I loved how they tied money to stewardship, family unity, and service. I also noticed how many friends wanted simple next steps: a worksheet to print, a plan for food storage on a tight budget, an idea for helping a twelve-year-old save for a mission. That is what this site is for.

What you’ll find here

  • Plain-language articles on budgeting, giving, saving, food storage, and preparing for missions
  • Free printables like the Family Budget Council Worksheet
  • A short weekly newsletter with one practical idea at a time

What this site is not

I am not a Church employee or leader, and nothing here is official Church teaching or policy. When I quote Church leaders, I link to the original source so you can read the full context yourself. For doctrine, policy, and welfare questions, please go to churchofjesuschrist.org and to your bishop.

I am also not a licensed financial advisor. The ideas here are general education. For decisions about taxes, investments, or legal matters, please talk with a qualified professional.

A note on tools

Every method on this site works with paper and a pencil. When I mention a tool, like EnvelopeBudget.com, it is simply the tool I use. You never need to buy anything to use what you learn here.
